When do I need the German environmental sticker?
Only vehicles with a sticker may drive in German low emission zones (Umweltzonen). The zones are marked with the “Umwelt Zone” traffic sign; an additional sign shows the permitted sticker colour, almost everywhere green.
Which sticker will my vehicle get?
The classification is based on the Euro standard in the vehicle documents. If it is not shown, the year of first registration counts for foreign vehicles. Petrol cars from Euro 1 and diesel cars from Euro 4 usually receive the green sticker.
Where do I put the sticker?
On the inside of the windscreen, clearly visible from outside. It remains valid as long as the registration number does not change.

What is the fine?
Driving into a low emission zone without a valid sticker can result in a fine of 100 euros.
How long is the sticker valid?
Indefinitely, as long as the vehicle keeps the same registration number. A new registration number requires a new sticker.
Who does not need a sticker?
Motorcycles are exempt, as are classic cars registered in Germany with an H number plate.
How long does delivery take?
The sticker is sent by post, usually within 7 to 14 days.
